Elder Family Matters has assisted older people in the wider Wellington region (including Hutt Valley, Porirua Basin, Kapiti Coast, and Wairarapa) for 10 years so they can choose to continue living in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Elder Family Matters do this by: •assisting the elderly and disabled with the tasks of daily living: shopping, housework and cleaning, personal cares, laundry, meals, transport, social activities, appointments, home maintenance; •one-on-one support / companionship / outings for people in residential care; •respite care to enable primary carers to have a break. Hauora Hokianga Integrated PHO provides a range of primary health services to the predominantly Maori population residing in the relatively isolated and rural Hokianga area. HHIPHO is a Maori health provider run by a charitable trust, with the aims of seeking equity of access and excellence in healthcare that is responsive to the needs of the Hokianga people. The services are based at a 26 bed primary care hospital in Rawene, including emergency care, outpatients, acute, maternity, continuing care geriatric, and access to specialist consultations. Nine outreach clinics around the area provide access to GP services. In addition dental, mental health, home support, Physiotherapy, health promotion, home support and community development services are provided throughout the community. The service annual health and business plan focus on areas of Maori health gain, particularly on diabetes, cardio-vascular disease and oral health.

A group for mobility scooter users, coordinated by Horizons Regional Council Roadsafe Coordinator Whanganui. Meets every third Wednesday of the month, excluding January, at The Brick House for lunch at 11.30am. Sometimes have a guest speaker. Have a Scooter Skills day once a year and members can attend a scooter day in Palmerston North once a year to meet up with other scooter groups from around the region. Step Ahead - Christchurch
Hours: 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday - Friday, plus some weekend and evening activities. Step Ahead is an independent community based rehabilitation programme primarily for people who experience schizophrenia or affective disorders. Wide range of activities provided, determined by desires of members. Members need to be relatively independent and motivated, and maybe involved in the running of the programme, on its Trust Board or as Activity Coordinators. Step Ahead currently provides activity based services in Richmond, Riccarton, Kaipoi, Amberley, Oxford and Ashburton. The Vocational Agency assists members to return to work or study and provides opportunities for paid employment. Membership costs $10.00 per year.
