Elder Family Matters has assisted older people in the wider Wellington region (including Hutt Valley, Porirua Basin, Kapiti Coast, and Wairarapa) for 10 years so they can choose to continue living in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Elder Family Matters do this by: •assisting the elderly and disabled with the tasks of daily living: shopping, housework and cleaning, personal cares, laundry, meals, transport, social activities, appointments, home maintenance; •one-on-one support / companionship / outings for people in residential care; •respite care to enable primary carers to have a break. Full range of Carers including highly experienced carers, registered nurses, enrolled nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. We offer a free Disability Information Service which is open to anybody and to any organisation, and a free Supported Employment Service which people may self refer to, or be referred to. This includes Transition support for students transitioning from school. We also provide an Equipment Loan Service and Sales of Aids and Equipment. Wilson Centre
The Wilson Centre for children is a child disability service of Waitemata DHB. The Wilson Centre provides family-centred rehabilitation services for children aged 0-16 years (or while still at school) with neurological or orthopaedic problems. Rehabilitation programmes are tailored to meet the individual needs of the child or young person, and may include inpatient, day patient or outpatient options. Rehabilitation programmes may involve nurses, occupational therapists, speech language therapists, play specialists, social workers, clinical neuropsychologists, and a Maori Liaison Advisor. Facilities include gardens, purpose built playground, hydrotherapy pool, rehabilitation school classroom, and parent accommodation.
The Wilson Centre also offers free respite services for families of children aged 0-16 years with high support needs. Children are cared for in a safe, professional and fun environment while families take time out to recharge their batteries. Planned stays may include day stays, overnight weekdays, weekends and school holidays. 24 hour care is provided by nurses and healthcare assistants.
