Elder Family Matters has assisted older people in the wider Wellington region (including Hutt Valley, Porirua Basin, Kapiti Coast, and Wairarapa) for 10 years so they can choose to continue living in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Elder Family Matters do this by: •assisting the elderly and disabled with the tasks of daily living: shopping, housework and cleaning, personal cares, laundry, meals, transport, social activities, appointments, home maintenance; •one-on-one support / companionship / outings for people in residential care; •respite care to enable primary carers to have a break. Pedestrians On Wheels

A group for mobility scooter users, coordinated by Horizons Regional Council Roadsafe Coordinator Whanganui. Meets every third Wednesday of the month, excluding January, at The Brick House for lunch at 11.30am. Sometimes have a guest speaker. Have a Scooter Skills day once a year and members can attend a scooter day in Palmerston North once a year to meet up with other scooter groups from around the region. We offer a free Disability Information Service which is open to anybody and to any organisation, and a free Supported Employment Service which people may self refer to, or be referred to.
