Te Roopu Waiora Trust is a disability support organisation serving the most disadvantaged sector in our community. Te Roopu Waiora seeks to ‘Enable through Empowerment’ by: •Creating a supportive environment for whanau to identify their own disability resource needs and aspirations •Providing health and disability information, advice, advocacy and support to whanau with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities •Engaging with community groups, agencies, providers, Iwi and Maori communities to increase the awareness of disability issues and improve engagement with whanau haua •Assisting whanau with disabilities to evaluate responsiveness, accessibility, quality throughout service provision in the community. We have a range of information packs and disability service contacts to assist whanau to make informed decisions and/or to improve their access to services. Whanganui Disability Resource Centre
We offer a free Disability Information Service which is open to anybody and to any organisation, and a free Supported Employment Service which people may self refer to, or be referred to. This includes Transition support for students transitioning from school. We also provide an Equipment Loan Service and Sales of Aids and Equipment. We cover Whanganui, Rangitikei and Ruapehu districts and South Taranaki.
