Te Puna Ora O Mataatua
Te Puna Ora o Mataatua was formed in 1991 at Maungarongo Marae, in Ohope, Whakatane, after a series of hui were organised to set up Primary Health Care Services for the iwi of Mataatua in the Eastern Bay. Kaumatua representative from each iwi, within the rohe, contributed support to develop the ‘Vision’ for Health care services within Te Puna Ora. These services were designed to be accessible, affordable and culturally appropriate to improve well-being of iwi, and later, the wider community.
