Amputee Federation of New Zealand

The primary objective of the Federation is to support and promote the welfare of all amputees. This includes offering peer support and encouragement when the going gets tough, and providing information and advice to help amputees achieve the quality lifestyle to which they aspire. There are nine District Societies affiliated to the Federation, all of which work towards the goals set by the Federation. Mobility Solutions provide wheelchair and seating assessment services to people who have long-term complex needs and are not covered by ACC. We see people of any age but they must reside in the greater Auckland area.

Our referral forms can be found on our website. Anyone can send us a referral. Once this is received our therapists check you are eligible for our service then prioritise against set criteria. People are seen on a 'most urgent first basis' and we encourage people to contact us if their situation changes so that we can reprioritise their referral.

Our team consists of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, a Therapy Assistant, Wheelchair Technicians and Administration Support.

Rehab Plus provides rehabilitation services to adults aged 16-64 years living in the Auckland/North Health region. Northland DHB - Wheelchair/Seating Service Northland

The Wheelchair/Seating Service Northland is a service of the Northland District Health Board and is located in a separate building at Whangarei Base Hospital. It is contracted by the Ministry of Health, Disability Services to provide Level 2 and 3 wheelchair and seating assessments to people eligible to receive Environmental Support Services funding for equipment.

The service is provided to people living in Northland from north of Wellsford to Cape Reinga and can be accessed using a referral form provided by the service. Upon receipt of a referral an acknowledgement letter and information pack is sent out and people are prioritised onto a waiting list. Wheelchair Seating Therapists perform the specialised assessments either in a person's home or at the Wheelchair/Seating Service in Whangarei.

Wheelchair/Seating Service Northland is also contracted by accessable to provide a repairs and maintenance service. This service can be contacted on 09 430 4101 ext 7157.

Pedestrians On Wheels

A group for mobility scooter users, coordinated by Horizons Regional Council Roadsafe Coordinator Whanganui. Meets every third Wednesday of the month, excluding January, at The Brick House for lunch at 11.30am. Sometimes have a guest speaker. Visionary Living

Supported Independent Living (SIL) services work with you to assist you to achieve the best possible level of independence in all aspects of your life. The SIL model gives you a range of options that are comprehensive and flexible and assist you to lead a sustainable and independent lifestyle in the community.

SIL services in Auckland are delivered by four contracted SIL providers. Referral to the services is made through the Needs Assessment and Service Coordination agency, Taikura Trust (Ph 09 278 6314).

Our Visionary Living service is managed by Latoa Halatau, who has over 25 years of social work experience. We work with people of all ethnicities and disabilities who are aged between 16 and 65 years who live in the greater Auckland area. Some areas of assistance include finding appropriate accommodation, managing your home and financial affairs, travelling safely, training, and social and recreational activities.
