Elder Family Matters
Elder Family Matters has assisted older people in the wider Wellington region (including Hutt Valley, Porirua Basin, Kapiti Coast, and Wairarapa) for 10 years so they can choose to continue living in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Elder Family Matters do this by: •assisting the elderly and disabled with the tasks of daily living: shopping, housework and cleaning, personal cares, laundry, meals, transport, social activities, appointments, home maintenance; •one-on-one support / companionship / outings for people in residential care; •respite care to enable primary carers to have a break. Full range of Carers including highly experienced carers, registered nurses, enrolled nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists. Services includes mobile care (short time and discrete services), personalised care (minimum of 2 hours), cleaning services (minimum 1 hour), dementia care, and 24 hours/7 days services.

We link people to community supports. The centre specializes in helping people to get their questions answered so that they can made informed decisions to improve their quality of life. This is a free information and advisory service available to everyone; people with a disability, family and whanau, support workers and support organisations. We have equipment available for purchase and hire. Secondhand equipment can also be sold through us. If there is something that you need but we don't stock it we will try to source it. Barrier Free assessment service is available, information on accessible homes. We have information on accessible motels, hotels and activities. We can put you in contact with over 50 support groups and link you to their support network. We have an accessible meeting room and kitchen for hire. This is set up with digital projector and a Front Row 2 Go system hearing system. The Centre is open 9-5 Monday to Friday. Creative Space is an accessible art group that operates on Fridays from 10-3. Please call the Centre if you would like to attend.
