You can join The Couch at http://www.thecouch.org.nz/ July 2009 Survey: Disabled peoples experience of using public land transport services The Human Rights Commission is conducting a survey of disabled people who have used or tried to use buses, trains, or taxis i the past year. Three years ago the Commission conducted an inquiry into accessible public land transport services for disabled people and made a number of recommendations. The Commission is now reviewing progress on implementing the recommendations. Part of the review of progress is a survey of disabled people's experiences. The survey can be filled in on-line or down loaded, filled in and posted in to the Commission. A fact sheet is available with more information about the inquiry, progress to date, and the purpose of the review. The fact sheet is also available in plain language, Braille and audio. The survey should be completed and returned to the Commission by Friday 31st July 2009. May 2009 Onlline survey re financial and social impact of impairment/disability in New Zealand Here is your chance to participate in the creation of an innovative new information resource about the financial and social impac of impairment/disability in New Zealand. Contributions are being sought from people aged 18 to 64, with a physical impairment, living across New Zealand. Further information about this survey can be accessed via the above link. The Ministry of Social Development and the Health Research Council have commissioned the research. We are now looking for people interested in being involved in the research, either as participants in two waves of feedback forums in August and September, or to be interviewed as part of a wider survey to be conducted later in the year. We are looking for a range of people between 18 and 65 years with different support needs to take part. The feedback forums are designed to look at the additional costs associated with disability. The survey will help verify the costs identified by the feedback forums. Interviews will be conducted by phone or face-to-face. Attached are advertisements requesting people to express interest in being research participants. Please distribute these to your members or community in the Auckland region.
