Disability-related equipment to buy, hire or sell in New Zealand

New equipment.
Local retailers of disability equipment can be found in the yellow pages of your telephone book under "Disability Aids and Services" or "Wheelchairs and Mobility Scooters".
Alternatively you can search our database of equipment supplied by manufacturers or importers. Each item of equipment listed includes an illustration of the product and a detailed description including specifications and supplier contact details.

Buy or sell second-hand equipment
The Weka second-hand database is a free service for anyone interested in listing disability equipment to sell or buy. All advertisements will be displayed for 3 months, after which they will be deleted however, you may re-enter the advertisement as many times as you like.

Software which provides an automatic narration of a Power Point presentation. Requires Power Point 2000 or later. Can be downloaded at no cost.

To apply for equipment funding, the first step is to arrange a needs assessment by a specialised equipment assessor. You may prefer to arrange this yourself. To find an assessor in the Auckland/Northland area, phone accessable on CallFree 0508 001 002. For anywhere south of Auckland, phone Enable New Zealand on CallFree 0800 17 1981. Alternatively, contact your nearest needs assessment co-ordination service. (look for "Needs Assessment" under search by keyword on the support services page.) Your doctor or practice nurse may also be able to advise you.

If your disability is the result of an accident then you will need to contact ACC or your ACC case manager to discuss your requirements.
